Vagifem

Vagifem® (estradiol) is a natural formula of hormones. This medication can be used to treat menopause and reduce urgency or irritation during having to spend. It is an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine and is not prescribed.

Vagifem® vaginal suppositories are tablets used to treat menopause and can be used with or without an intact uterus. Vagifem® is a local vaginal treatment and progestogen therapy is not necessary for women with an intact uterus.

The shortest duration, effective and low dose use for changing and maintaining post-menopausal treatment.

Recommended starting dose: One regular tablet per day for two weeks. Maintenance dose: One vaginal tablet twice a week.

Treatment can be started on any suitable day. If a dose is forgotten, take it as soon as remembered. Double doses should be avoided.

Side effects of Vagifem

Vagifem is generally well-tolerated, but it can cause some side effects, including:

• Headache
• Breast tenderness
• Vaginal burning

• Vaginal discharge
• Abdominal cramps

Serious side effects are rare, but it is important to seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of the following:

• Pelvic pain
• Unusual vaginal bleeding
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

Things to consider before using Vagifem
Vagifem is a prescription medication used to treat vaginal atrophy, a condition that causes vaginal dryness, burning, itching, and pain during intercourse. It comes in a tablet form that is inserted directly into the vagina.

Why is Vagifem important?

How is Vagifem used?

Vagifem is not right for everyone. You should not use it if you:

• Are allergic to any of the ingredients in Vagifem
• Have undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
• Have or have ever had breast cancer
• Have or have ever had a blood clot

It is also important to tell your doctor about all of the medications you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Some medications can interact with Vagifem.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind when using Vagifem:

• Vagifem is not a contraceptive and will not protect you from sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
• Vagifem may not be effective for all women with vaginal atrophy.
• Long-term use of Vagifem is generally safe, but it is important to talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of long-term treatment.

How long does it take for Vagifem to work?

Most women start to feel relief from their symptoms within a few weeks of using Vagifem.
