Viagra is a drug used to treat Erectile Dysfunction (ED), also known as impotence. Sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra) increases blood flow, making the erection last longer and stronger. Sildenafil (Revatio) is also used daily at a lower dose to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Viagra tablets are diamond-shaped and blue, with Pfizer guarantee written on one side and VGR on the other. Viagra is taken once a day 30 minutes to 4 hours before sexual intercourse.
What is Viagra and is it the same as Kamagra?
VIAGRA is not a drug but the brand name of a substance that stimulates blood flow to the penis, making an erection easier to occur. Viagra does not work on the brain. So, you do not feel excited or euphoric after use. Also, you do not get aroused by the drug. Viagra ensures that if you are sexually stimulated, you can get an erection more easily.
Active substance
The active substance in Viagra is sildenafil. Viagra is marketed by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer. Pfizer had the patent on sildenafil, but it expired in 2013. Because India does not recognize these patent rules, many pills containing sildenafil offered on the internet come from India, including Kamagra.
Similar substances
There are substances with a similar effect to sildenafil, namely vardenafil and tadalafil [1]. The pill with the brand name Levitra contains vardenafil. Levitra is sometimes preferred if Viagra has a side effect, “blurred vision”. Cialis contains tadalafil. This substance works much longer than sildenafil. The downside is that the side effects can also last longer.
What does it do?
Sildenafil inhibits a certain enzyme (PDE-5) causing the blood vessels in the penis to relax and fill with blood. This effect occurs half an hour to an hour after ingestion and lasts 5 hours. Because the blood vessels are relaxed and stay that way for 5 hours, an erection can occur more easily after sexual stimulation.
Viagra Side Effects
Common side effects are headache and flushing. Less often mentioned are stomach complaints and dizziness and less sharp vision. Taking a higher dose than prescribed does not improve getting an erection. However, this increases the side effects.
Contraindications
Viagra should not be used in case of heart problems. It should also no longer be used if you have reacted allergically to the drug. Viagra should never be used with medicines that contain nitrate or nitrite. Nitrite is found in poppers among other things. Always consult with your doctor whether you may use Viagra. Always read the package leaflet for contraindications and side effects.
Legislation
Viagra can only be obtained through a prescription from the doctor. Buying Viagra or Kamagra via the internet is unwise and risky. The doctor can check for contraindications and can monitor any side effects. When ordering via the internet, you do not know whether the pill indeed contains sildenafil and how much.
Dangerous combination
The combination of Viagra with poppers is dangerous. Poppers also dilate the blood vessels, causing the blood pressure to drop. As a result, less blood goes to the heart and brain. The combination of Viagra and Poppers causes a very strong reduction in blood pressure, which can make you unconscious.
