Crestor®/Stator® (rosuvastatin) increases healthy, high-temperature (HDL) melting levels while increasing concentrations of blocked low-temperature (LDL) structures in the body (a type of fat). Adjusting your cholesterol can help reduce heart attacks, vascular diseases, and isolate heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Introduction
Crestor
The active ingredient in Crestor 5 / 10 / 20 / 40 MG (28 Tablets) is rosuvastatin.
Rosuvastatin belongs to the cholesterol synthesis inhibitors. They are also called statins. They inhibit the production of cholesterol in the liver and lower cholesterol and fat levels in the blood.
Doctors prescribe it for high cholesterol or a combination of high cholesterol and high fat levels in the blood. Doctors also prescribe it for people who have an increased risk of cardiovascular problems, such as those with angina or diabetes mellitus.

Interactions
This medicine interacts with other medicines. The text below only lists the active ingredients of these medicines, not the brand names. You can check whether your medicine contains any of these active substances in your package leaflet under the heading “composition”.
The medications with which the most important interactions occur are the following.
- The anticoagulant medicines acenocoumarol and fenprocoumon. Rosuvastatin can strengthen the effect of the blood thinner. Therefore, inform the anticoagulation clinic if you start taking rosuvastatin, change the dosage, or stop taking rosuvastatin.
- Gemfibrozil, another cholesterol- and fat-lowering medicine. This medicine may enhance the effects, as well as the side effects, of rosuvastatin. You may notice this in unexplained muscle pain or muscle weakness. Sometimes this combination is deliberately prescribed. Your doctor will then check your blood beforehand. Consult your doctor or pharmacist in case of unexplained severe muscle pain, muscle weakness, reduced urination or dark brown urine.
- Ciclosporin, an immunosuppressant medication. In combination with rosuvastatin, this medication may increase the risk of muscle abnormalities. Consult your doctor or pharmacist in case of unexplained severe muscle pain, muscle weakness, decreased urination or dark brown urine.
- The drugs against HIV and AIDS darunavir, lopinavir, ritonavir and tipranavir. In combination with rosuvastatin, these drugs increase the risk of muscle side effects. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist about this. It may be possible to reduce the dose of rosuvastatin. Consult your doctor or pharmacist in case of unexplained severe muscle pain or muscle weakness.
- Colchicine, a medication for gout. This medicine makes you more likely to have side effects from rosuvastatin. Especially important here is muscle weakness. This can be recognized by rapid onset of severe and unexplained muscle pain, muscle weakness, reduced urination and brown urine. If so, stop taking rosuvastatin immediately and consult your doctor.
Are you unsure if any of the above interactions affect you? If so, contact your pharmacist or doctor.
